Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks

ZIDANNE - film review

Rob – Ok, so I’m not a big fan of that game where massively over paid wimps jog about a bit, fall over a lot and moan even more. This film however is a triumph! Yup that’s right, an absolute triumph of style over content. A unexpectedly beautifully intense study of concentration and frustration, Zidanne’s a lucky man to have such a good film made about him, considering how dull he is. It’s 20 mins too long but has an awesome and expertly crafted soundtrack for the audiophiles amongst you…

Rollo – I cannot recommend this film enough, I've tried, but I can’t... One of the few films / art projects I’ve seen recently that’s both surprised and inspired. I had absolutely no idea who he was and at most a rudimentary understanding of the game, yet I was blown away - A beautifully crafted meditative ‘21st Century Portrait.’

Nat – Would probably give this film 8/10

HAPPINESS - film review

Rob – "An emotional or affective state that is characterized by feelings of enjoyment, pleasure, and satisfaction". Unlike the happiness you might know and love, this film is very honest and very, very dark. Just like beer - I love it because it makes me sick..

Rollo – My life in celluloid

Nat – Would probably give this film 8/10

I AM LEGEND - film review

Nat – I wasn't expecting much from this movie, which is probably one of the reasons I liked it so much. The best part of this movie is that unlike most Hollywood flicks, you can't second guess the plot, as a result I was drawn into the story more than I might have been. Will Smith carries a single star movie much better than Tom Cruise in War of the Worlds in my opinion. The baddies in this flick are scary and you really feel for Wills character and his faithful friend. The movie is thought provoking and the SFX of a deserted New York are particularly impressive. This movie won't be to everyone's taste though, particularly because it isn't a regular Hollywood action movie, but I think it's worth seeing.

Rob – Unfortunately not an insightful account following the coming of age of a slightly deranged prosthetic limb, but a zombie move with Will Smith in it. Unconvincing CG prove that you should use real zombies in this sort of film and the street driving scenes look barely more impressive than a computer game. Having said that it is a zombie movie with Will Smith in it so if you keep your expectations where they should be then not even the dire ending will disappoint you…

Rollo – Honestly it made me jump now and then and the relationship between whatever Smiths character was called and the dog was quite sweet, but come on its rubbish isn’t it.
